hello dear friend, thank you for taking the time to be here.
whether we're old friends, or you are just hearing my name for the first time, i want to take a moment to introduce myself and tell you a little bit about what you will find as you explore my website.
my name is morgan rae hoog. i currently live in boulder, colorado with my partner lucas. our house is filled with plants and books... i wouldn't change a thing. things i love: a great novel, hot coffee, cooking in my tiny kitchen, and hiking through the colorado forest. i recently graduated from pepperdine university in malibu, california where i studied rhetoric and composition. i credit my transformational education for my growing global consciousness and desire to engage in social and environmental activism. at the center, i am a writer and storyteller committed to bettering our world through explorative prose and poetry.
it is my deepest desire that this space becomes a community where people feel safe to explore the grief, sorrow, fear, and joy in their lives as they journey towards self-acceptance. i strongly believe that self-love is global love. that when we take the time to confront what wounds us and seek healing, we can better heal what wounds our communities and our world. that when we learn how to love ourselves, love pours out of us into the lives of our neighbors, our communities, and our environment.
as i explore this idea, you will find weekly pieces on self love, meditation, realistic wellness routines, tips, and plans, and easy ways to reduce your environmental impact. (you will find all of this under the journal section of my website.)
under the poetry section of my website you will find poems and prose that explore mental health, the woman's experience, relationships, self love, and following your heart towards joy and vitality. most of the poem's featured here will be apart of a larger collection of poems to be released in the fall of 2019. keep an eye out for launch dates... the book is titled 'revolution song.' i can't wait for you to hold a copy.
to create a community in this space, and help readers navigate the mess of being a human in a chaotic and hurting world, i have decided to do a series called 'stories.' the idea behind this series is to encourage people to find ownership of their stories and move towards self love by finding community. under the stories section of the website there is a form where you can email me anything: the hurt you're navigating, your experience as a man or woman, your hopes and dreams, your biggest fears. once you do this i will write you a personalized handwritten poem offering hope and encouragement and send it to you in the mail.(who doesn't love receiving love notes in the mail?) it is my hope that giving life to your story in a safe space will free you to move towards healing, and also show you that you are not alone. i want to create a relationship with you. show me your heart and i will show you how incredibly loved you are.
*NOTE: all forms submitted under the 'stories' page are completely confidential and will remain private between you and i. you can keep your identity anonymous if you choose.
thank you again for being here, i cannot wait to start this journey with you.
from my heart to yours,
morgan rae. xx
